Dagmar Ackerman
Kiln Fired Glass
Born in Czechoslovakia, Dragmar Ackerman migrated to Australia in 1954. She established a graphic design studio in Sydney in 1981, which has become known as one of the city’s premier design consultancies.
Dragmar has always been fascinated by glass – by its apparent fragility and paradoxically its great strength.
In the mid 90′s she decided to explore this interest and enrolled in an introductory course at the Sydney College of Arts. The course for her was a profound experience, changing her focus dramatically. Since then, she has attended a number of other courses, developing her skills and experiementing with techniques.
From her newly established glass studio we now see the results of thi development. Her strong design background is immediately obvious in the new glass works, with vibrant colour and strong graphic shapes in her trademark.
